What is Beeswax?
Quite simply it is a natural substance made and secreted by honey bees 🐝 When it is cold it feels hard and breakable but forms a liquid when it is heated.
It can come in different colours and this can be due to the age of the bees, their location and flowers that the bees have been foraging on. Different batches of our Balms may therefore look slightly different than the last one you purchased and that is OK. We haven't changed anything to the original recipe.
Benefits of Beeswax
Beeswax offers anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral benefits therefore making it an ideal ingredient to use in our balms.
Historically it was used to treat burns and wounds and nowadays it is used for soothing certain skin conditions such as eczema (dermatitis)and psoriasis.
Beeswax is able to hydrate, soothe and calm the skin. By creating a protective barrier on the skin it is able to hold and maintain moisture and reduce dryness. It also is able to attract water and helps keep the skin hydrated.
Adding beeswax into our Lip Balms gives you the benefits of reducing dry and cracked lips and helps prevent chapping. You will not need to continually apply our Lip Balm as often you would do with other similar products that do not use beeswax. Good thing is that ours will last you a lot longer too!
